HERBIE
Herbie, also known as Harbert Grezel, has been captivating audiences with his harmonica skills since 1992. As a seasoned musician, he has performed with various bands, including High Temperature, and since 2021, he has been back on stage with The Blues Kings. Drawing inspiration from blues legends like Louis Jordan, Little Walter, and Sonny Terry, Herbie not only plays but also sings the blues with passion and authenticity.

Herbie’s music is deeply personal, with many of his original songs reflecting his life experiences and the special encounters he’s had along the way. His talent has not gone unnoticed—in 2013, he won the Dutch Blues Challenge, and in 2015, he claimed the title of Dutch Street Musicians Champion. His unique style is best described as “New Old Stock Blues,” blending traditional elements with a fresh, contemporary twist.

As a harmonica one-man band, Herbie tours extensively throughout the Netherlands and Europe, bringing his dynamic performances to a wide audience. Music runs deep in his veins; his great-great-grandfather, Melle Zwerver, was likely one of the first buskers in the Netherlands. Born on August 2, 1845, in Wolvega, Melle lived up to his name, wandering and performing across the country, often finding himself on the wrong side of the law for playing without a license.

With a rich musical heritage and a deep connection to the blues, Herbie continues to keep the spirit of the genre alive, delivering powerful performances that resonate with listeners across generations.
