KING OF THE WORLD
King of the World, a well-established name in the Dutch music scene for over 10 years, delivers top-tier Blues Rhythm and Roots. With a new studio CD on the way and a Live CD/DVD already released (featuring special guests like Matt Schofield and Shirma Rouse), the members of King of the World are determined to once again prove their reputation as the hardest-working band in the Netherlands.
After their formation in 2012, the band was quickly labeled a “supergroup” due to the rich musical history of its members, including backgrounds with Snowy White, Matt Schofield, Cuby & The Blizzards, and others. Now, twelve years later, King of the World continues to live up to that title, having lost none of their energy, drive, or creativity. With Belgian guitar virtuoso Stef Delbaere and singer/drummer Marlon Pichel, the band has reinvented itself, offering high-quality roots, rhythm & blues with a variety of vocal highlights.
The band has built an impressive reputation both in the studio and on stage, earning rave reviews for their six previous albums and countless shows, including performances at North Sea Jazz Festival, Ribs ‘n Blues, Vienna Spring Blues Festival, Paradiso, and other iconic Dutch venues. Moreover, the band has received numerous Blues Awards, including Best Keyboardist, Best Drummer, Best Bassist (3x), Best Guitarist, and Best Band. Guitarist Magazine ranks Stef Delbaere among the top blues/rock guitarists in the Benelux. King of the World has appeared several times on TV and radio shows, including Vrije Geluiden (TV), Pauw en Witteman (TV, 2x), Derksen on the Road (TV), Jongens van het Noorden (TV), Spijkers met Koppen (radio), and TROS Muziekcafé (radio).
On the anticipated new CD, the band has reinvented itself once more, making more room for the vocal talents of its members, with singer/drummer/composer Marlon Pichel taking on an increasingly prominent role.
